This is the key to the whole topic to me.
That and the speed of travel and the population of human beings on the planet means the world is a much smaller place than it used to be. We are beginning to understand that our room to expand and dump our wastes are becoming scarce. And that mistreatment of a peoples does not remain isolated to those people for long. The negative consequences spread around the world quickly and it is only getting smaller and faster.
I think this leaves us little room to avoid changing our way of doing things and interacting with each other. Some would call that a spiritual change.
Time will tell if there's anything to this riddle after all!

I have one significance for 4:20. Written 4/20, it is Adolf Hitler's birthday. He was born on April 20, 1889. Don't know whether it's significant to the numerology types, but I thought I'd put it out there to see what happens.
In the midst of the waters of a tsunami microbes are happily eating, reproducing and living their life as their wave rushes upon the shore. The end of the cycle has been going on for at least 150 years now and we have all been rushed up in it. One thing people are very oblivious to due to normalcy bias is the way we live currently is totally foriegn to the way our ancestors lived for 1000's of years. We think it is normal and like the microbe that reproduces to the peak feasting upon one drop of sugar we think a new thing using a finite sugar drop is the new permanent norm.

My personal thoughts on the matter: 1. The Mayans just got tired of making the perpetual calendar. 2. If there is anything to it, maybe it's the beginning of a new era of life on earth. And that could mean so many things like social or religious changes, etc., etc., or even polar shift.
