Nintendo's president shrugged off the just unveiled iPad tablet computer from Apple as delivering "no surprises," and displayed as little enthusiasm for 3-D technology and high-definition upgrades for games.

I agree. Just buy an Ipod touch. You can put that in your pocket. The Ipad should have come with OC X atleast. Right now it's just a paperweight. We have so many items on the market at around the same price and size that will do sooooo much more.
I dunno. I got an iPhone 3gs and was skeptical til I found myself using it more often than my laptop. Good thing, because the laptop (not an Apple, an HP) died soon after.
As far as gaming goes.. I haven't been impressed with anything Nintendo's done since the SNES.
Its made by Apple and thats its biggest injury!
This guy is right on 3D gaming! "I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home. How is that going to look to other people?" However, this would be a market for Oakley to step into!
It's funny how 3D was important to nintendo twenty five years ago, several 3d glasses games were made for the NES. The SMS had very good stereoscopic glasses during the same time frame. Lets not forget the Virtual boy ten years after that. Funny how nintendo is suddenly against any tech they did not create and or can patient. Nintindo is a greedy whore who cries foul because they didn't think of it first.
Will 3D TVs and games catch on? who knows. But Nintendon't will be last in line like normal. The Wii was a fluke, a successful one, but still a fluke. Nintendo will do bury it's head in the sand and continue to produce one or two AAA "must have" games per console generation like they always have. This is why my Wii sits in a dusty gave from lack of use. I am fed up with them and could care less what they do or don't do in the future. Im done with Nintendon't! They can suck it.

Omegan- You make it sound like Nitendo already ran 3D and realized its a flop!
Not my intention; I was pointing out that they have tried it and now are against it for reasons only they seem to fathom. RCA had color stereo TVs in the 1960s that failed to catch on. Yet we have HD color 7.1 surround sound(output atleast) today, standard on most new TVs. Some things get tried before their time and fail as a result. It does not mean the idea was a failure, only the timing or implementation.

well, the Ipad is a good product, I refuse to buy one because apple is a monopoly and I hate that. I believe that the information age should be one of openness and minimal control over digital media. It is not even close to cost effective to buy an Ipad and be forced to buy everything under the sun for it when I could *ahem* just acquire such media at an x/0 cost.
dont worry apple, there are enough ego-centric liberal yuppies to soak up yet another money vacuum.
Oh, I just love you darlings that are so obsessed with politics you have to bring them up every single time you post!

This article is ridiculous. If you asked Ford to comment on the new Cavalier, what would they say? Would they say "it's a great car and it's going to hurt Mustang sales" or would they say "it's nothing more than a Cavalier with a bigger engine"?
More importantly, why would anyone care?
The fact is that the iPad will sell well (I'll be buying a couple for my business and many people I've talked to will be buying at least one). It's not exactly the same as the Kindle and in some ways, it's not as good an eBook as Kindle. It's not a Nintendo game console and isn't as good in some ways. It's not a laptop and isn't as good in some ways. What it IS is a combination of all three - a good eBook reader, a good MP3 player, a good game console, a good email reader, and so on. For many people, that's more than enough to get them to buy.
It will never replace the Nintendo as a game console. It will, however, pick up the low end. For example, my daughter plays Solitaire, Bejeweled, and similar games that will work great on the iPad. She doesn't play fast action shooting games. So, for us, the iPad is a better choice than a Nintendo game device.
I love the 'Apple is a monopoly' nonsense. Apple is no more a monopoly than Nintendo or Microsoft or anyone else. They have a proprietary right to control their own products - just like any manufacturer. Why so many uninformed people insist on the 'Apple is a monopoly' nonsense is a testament to some great spin-meisters at Microsoft, Nintendo, Amazon, etc.

If thos games she playes are flash based games the Ipad will not suport it.

Yeah, me too. I guess it's the condition of being uninformed that drives the uninformed's behavior of self-identifying on internet forums. I don't think 99% of people today understand a thing about intellectual properties, proprietary rights, licensing, national vs international distribution rights, closed or open source systems, etc. It's kind of sad since these issues have been widely circulated in the mainstream media for well over a decade now.
