Thats your choice. I already have a blu ray player, I had a wireless network adapter that was extra, at a wireless N rating, plus I can game online and get extra game addons, demos and streaming video in HD from xbox live. No one gaming system is the end all gaming system. It is more about the individual. That being said, I did buy a PS3 slim and I have a Wii for my wife and daughter. Aside from 1 or 2 games such as Infamous and GoW3. I don't really play it. I play CoD4 and ODST relentlessly because to me with the online component (Yes I know PS3 CoD4 has an online multiplayer mode) having a centralized hub, it is much easier to play with friends at will. I don't even have to be in the same game, I can invite them to play CoD4 with me even when they're playing another game. I'm not saying the Playstation Network is bad, it just has a LONG way to go before it catches up to xbox live, and I gaurantee you that if it does, it won't be free anymore. So, no offense Rob, but as an early 30's gamer, I do not think the PS3 is the best. It is however, a part of the best generation of gaming we have ever seen. Don't limit yourself to just one console, enjoy all of them. I'll bet you will find you can spend a lot of time playing a game you initially thought sucked because it wasn't a console exclusive.

I have to go with the 360 as well Orbidal. I have absolutely no interest in Blue Ray. And now that microsoft has partnered with netflix, I can watch dang near anything from my netflix library right on my xbox. And xbox's online community is huge. None of my friends have a PS3, so if I had one of those I'd be gaming alone. As far as entertainment goes, the xbox is everything I'll ever need.

I used to own all 3, but I sold all of my Wii stuff on ebay after coming to the conclusion that the motion controls are really only useful and/or fun for the party/sports (excluding Madden) games while everything else would've been much better served with a standard controller. The 1st party exclusives were fantastic, but overall It just collected dust in my living room b/c once you get beyond the mainstream games, the offerings are pretty weak and @31yo; I’m most assuredly NOT the target audience for over 90% of the software they produce.

I bought the PS3 and 360 to play video games, the rest of the hardware they each possess might as well be nonexistent b/c I have a high end PC for that. I get more play out of my 360 due to all of my friends owning one who still play video games on the regular, but I love owning both of them just to have access to both libraries of games.

None of the current generation consoles should be considered ‘the best’, that’s just something people who only own one of them say.

NetFlix downloads to a 360 are nowhere near watching a 1080P blu-ray on a big screen. After 5 360 failures in 17 months, are we really expected to continue to put up with that? Seriously? The PS3 we have has among the best blu-ray players in it, it has built in wifi so we don't need to shell out the extra 100 bucks to go wireless network like you have to on xbox, and it has bluetooth, so all of our existing bluetooth wireless headsets already work, saving even hundreds more. Can you say "DUH"? PS3 lacks Halo and other cool titles but has plenty of other titles that fill the desire. The online gaming community is free and every day gets closer to being on par with the pricey xbox live.

Why do people call the stuff coming in through Netflix or other streaming methods HD? Is it just because it fills the screen of an HDTV?

I highly doubt you get lossless 1080p content through any streaming method, the bandwidth required is just far too high.

I think it is just a marketing ploy. You can fill up a screen with 1920x1080 blocky pixels and call it HD. Kind of like with broadband. 256 kbps is considered broadband and can be labled as 'high-speed' even though it is not what most people would call high-speed.
