Only just now? My computer based business friends banned YouTube and MySpace years ago not only as security hazards but just company time wasters in general.
Just retired last Sep. No news here. We also could not access IMs or personal email boxes. Marines have better things to be doing on the tax payer dime than "social networking". We can do that at the enlisted or officers club after hours....the old fashioned way. Besides those who join know some "rights" are given up....long hair, earrings, etc.
I'm so glad the media is up on current events. This happened only about 3 years ago and it's not just the Corps internet. It's both the Navy and the Corps internet that was adjusted to block pretty much anything except official websites. Personally I didn't mind so much. My troops had better things to do than surf the web.
I agree with the order but if we follow Sandra's reasoning my guess is that most of us, myself included, shouldn't be here right now. Get back to work, slackers!!
Then personal hours shouldn't be spent on work. If it's outside the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm then the company should consider itself blocked. See you tomorrow.
As a former Marine I will say there is no draft you joined and are paid by the taxpayers. If you do not like what we are doing then get the hell out. This is not a game it is a reality that few will understand but if you wear the uniform be the man.
all of the military should be banned from using these network sites and for personal use also. I have noted military people on this site. I do not think they shoudl exress their opinions. They should only take orders. For all teh reasons mentioned above. But more importantly for security reasons.
If they fight for these freedoms, shouldn't they be able to have them as well? I was in the Marines, and yes i know that a Marine is one in or out of a uniform.
Just like the proposed smoking ban, there is a time to do it and a time not to do ot, that goes for anything, its really no different from civilian jobs. Ever read your companies IT and security policy? you might be surprised.
I'm in the military but i'm off duty. So your saying that even during MY personal time I shouldn't post here? I am NOTALLOWED to post my opinion? I say this due to your "all of the military should be banned from using these network sites and for personal use also" comment. I don't care who you are whether you are the President, General of the Army, Secretary of Defense, or whoever else but if I'm on my own time I can do whatever I damn well please. If you think otherwise, please, pleeease, come see me. But on duty yea, I can agree with that.
NOTE: If i misread your comment then disregard the rant >.>
Bob-447665= sorry but you are GI property and that is 24 hours a day. Take your monthly pay check and divide by 720 hours and that is what you get paid per hour.
now with that said to Bob... I say...
what ever happened to Freedom of Speech? If they can't have those networks then get them out of there. This would have to be on the "honor system" if they are going to use it.
At home: As a Veteran myself, military members have more than EARNED the right to do whatever they want to do (legally) in their off time. No ifs-ands-or-buts about it!
bob-447665 you sound like a Vietnam era grunt, remember you signed a contract and took an oath you are never off duty ! read your enlistment papers you belong to them! 24/7 for the duration! Airforce staff Sgt 85-91
Vincent, I agree with what you say except that I am no one's property, regardless what people's opinions are. I always have the option of saying "No" and I always have the right to disobey an unlawful order. So if one day I woke up and said "Screw this war, it's not worth dying for or watching my brothers and sisters die for nothing" then so be it. Granted the consequences wouldn't be enjoyable but I do have a high sense of honor regardless of whatever happens. And the Government only paid for my training and you can pay out your contact so its not to say that once you join the Military the Government owns your ass.
Also I signed up to protect and defend the PEOPLE and the CONSTITUTION of America, not "Do whatever they tell me to do" or walk around saying "Hail the President of the United States."
Also signed up in 2001 and still serving in the Military werewolf.
But you won't let gays in the military unless they lie about their sexuality or hide it, and if they "reveal" themselves they get kicked out or beaten to death. There's nothing Constitutional about that.
orders first questions later you need to read the uniform code of conduct!! you can disobey ,but that will result in a court martial.. like i said you need to read up on your military right!! there not the same as civilian rights you did give up some constitutional rights which are not the same as your civil rights.. resd your papers!
And that sir is why when the s*** hits the fan me and you will be facing each other in the streets of America because again, "Protect and defend the PEOPLE and the CONSTITUTION of America." I could care less what my papers say because the Constitution is the highest law of the land that matters most not what the President or Congress says or does. If its unconstitutional, then those orders are illegitimate. If you want to walk around like an automaton then by all means do so.
If you are a citizen of the United States then that applies to gays as well. While I don't discriminate against gays its their choice to be gay but what matters is that the Constitution is there to protect EVERY citizen whether your gay or not.
Auteur, I don't know what answers your looking for but I sense that your pro-gay. Regardless I don't care whether your gay or not, I'm not pro-gay or anti-gay, I really don't care what personal choice people accept. If other people hate you or others due to you being gay then I'm sorry that society hates you for that. I don't know how "Gays" came into this article in the first place regarding social networking site bans. Edit: Well it should Auteur. If it doesn't then write your congressman to get a better answer than I can give you.
And Wolf you care to elaborate further...? Express your 1st Amendmant right chief, don't be scared.
Do you choose to be straight? Or are you only straight because the bible says you have to be?
Because there is evidence that states, that in addition to homosexuality not being a choice, that homosexuality also occurs in nature in thousands of animal species.
Also, if being gay means being hated, beaten, possibly killed or kicked out of the military, why would anyone choose to be gay?
How do you know I'm gay? Is it because I support gay rights?
Are you serious..? Do you understand the question that your asking me? Do I choose to be straight? Look lady/dude/both whatever, the fact is I don't care what you choose, are forced, want, or born gay fine, Yay for you. My OPINION of that matter is that you CHOOSE to be that way. Your asking me for proof of that you choose to be gay and I see what your saying and honestly I can't answer that. Nature/God/Aliens (whatever you believe in) work in mysterious ways.
wasn't a chief! you just admitted that you would desert in a time of crises in this country hope CID is not monitoring this blog! in this country hope CID is not monitoring this blog!
What...? Where do you get that I would desert the country in a time of crisis? This is exactly why I don't post here often. Just because I have different beliefs than you, you assume that I would desert my/our country in a time of need. You apparently support people who would rob you of the freedoms that the Constitution gives you, but I would fight them to the bitter end to make sure every citizen enjoys those freedoms. Yea, I guess that means I'm a terrorist and will end up in a FEMA camp because I love freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Ok....we're done here. Guess I'm too scared to post anymore ~shivers~
Sidenote: I don't believe in God but I think that there is something there but not sure what it is. That tidbit was just for you there Auteur. And just to make you smile Auteur...Go gay people and their SUPPORTERS, you guys rock.
orders first questions later you need to read the uniform code of conduct!! you can disobey ,but that will result in a court martial.. like i said you need to read up on your military right!! there not the same as civilian rights you did give up some constitutional rights which are not the same as your civil rights.. resd your papers!
Now that is about the funniest thing I've seen in a long time! LMAO
WTF is the uniform code of conduct? LMAO....Do you mean The Uniform Code of Military Justice or The Code of Conduct, which are two totally separate things? And just because one may disobey an order doesn't mean they will automatically go to a Court Martial either. That's what DRB's and Captains Mast or Office Hours are for. To handle disciplinary issues at the lowest level possible. A Court Martial is for extreme cases!
You claim to be in the military, but you don't even know the basics? I smell a poser!!!!! LMAO
momus2009 was in the military you need to learn how to read, but nice catch but i was hoping bob caught that but he didn't its the UCMJ article 92 read it and all the rest of you that keep using the constitution like its toilet paper should read both of them! Laws are unconstitutional but they still pass and enforce them don't they!!?
This is ridiculous! I'm sure that there are rules about giving out information that would be a security risk. That's a given. The military has ulterior motives here, though. They don't want anyone denigrating their service in the military and they do not want any criticisms of why they are in Afghanistan and Iraq. These are distractions they say. But it really is about freedom. We are constantly being bombarded with the old shibboleth that the Marines are protecting our freedoms here at home which is a total lie. They are doing nothing of the sort. Our freedoms were won through a fierce struggle by ordinary citizens and the ACLU. In Afghanistan and Iraq, they may be protecting their freedoms, but not here in America.
I agree. You have your freedom to say that. Unfortunately it isnt due to the ACLU. We go where we are called, by the commander in chief....regardless of political persuasion. As for me I retired, because while I support your right to say what you please, should we ever face an enemy here, call the ACLU, not the USMC. I wouldnt piss on any supporter of that communist (read up on its roots) organization if they were on fire.
Have you lost your friggin' mind? If it was not for those who have fought for and defended the constitution it wouldn't exist. How much would the 1st Amendment mean if we had been destroyed by another country? Many have attacked us...
The ACLU, SDS and the other radicals you cling to have done more damage to this country and the average joes freedoms than any foreign power has ever done.
The Bill of Rights, if left alone, was all anybody needed until shyster lawyers, politicians and judges decided some people are just more special than others.
Hey all you warmongers. If it wasn't for the SDS, ACLU, college protesters, and various other lawsuits, you would never be able to utter the words @!$%#, @!$%#, @!$%#, @!$%#, mother @!$%#er and tits. And we would probably have spent another 10 years in that wasteland, Vietnam. Soldiers and Marines are merely hit men who must obey the King of the Hill. How can you be over there and defending our freedoms here while you are losing your own freedom to use My Space?
This cracks me up. If Dubya was still President he would be getting wacked big time on this one. Not a word so far about our current POTUS eh?
Florina if you were ever in an infantry fighting unit you would understand the need for operational security. You can't trust every 19 year old Private Snuffy Smith to keep his mouth shut. It's human nature, people talk about things they shouldn't, Marines are no different.
They are doing a great service their for country by serving. They should be supported in every way possible but Marines getting killing because of something like this is a completely unecessary breach of OpSec.
I can agree with you Jon on that because Private Snuffy sends his buddies, mommy, and daddy pictures of destroyed BFV's and Abrams. While they're getting a kick by saying "Damn look what happened to this tank" the enemy looks at these pictures as well saying "Hey, shoot a RPG here and it works better." But then again you could argue by saying you could prolly find that information somewhere else like wiki.
Nobody in the military wantsto have to go somewhere they may be killed. Members of the military loose some freedoms the minutes they raise their right hand.
A young man, just 18, raises his right hand and enlists. He can't find work and he knows he will need further education for the hard times that lay ahead. He knows that through the GI bill he can get that education and more. He is then sent to Afghanistan after boot camp. Slowly he realizes that there is a catch. First and foremost, he is told that in order to get that education, he may be required to kill someone else and he does. This is a dangerous omen for that young lad. He has committed murder and it will be on his conscience for the rest of his life. No matter that the henchman is Commader in Chief. After he gets out of the military, this terrible act that he committed will haunt him and will interfere with his studies and cause numerous other mental problems. Stop this silly interference, intrusions and meddling into the affairs of other countries. And no! I'm not a fan of the Taliban at all. So there, put that in your coffee and drink it.
Well Florina I can tell your uneducated about the military. Not every military member goes to combat. Only a select few actually. Just because your in the military and in Iraq or Afghanistan doesn't mean you are going to be fighting. In fact most military members never see combat. I'd put the percent at or above 90%. If you joined the military and you signed up for a combat MOS but your only there for college I'd venture to say you need more education because your an idiot. I've been to combat and I'm not negatively affected by anything I've done nor do I regret it. Its him or me. Its life or death. Easy decesion to make.
USMCAnt: I can plainly see that you need more education, particularly in spelling and grammar. One does not spell the conjunction "you are" as "your". It is spelled "you're". Also, the conjunction "it is" is spelled "it's", not its. Also, it's "decision" not "decesion". I doubt that you were ever in any army-ever. You display too much of a gross malfunction of intellectual capacity, young man. P.S. Name calling is the opiate of the chronic under-achiever.
That is why people shouldn't join exclusively for a job and college education. They need to realize that being sent into a war zone is quite possible if they join. The military is our country's defense in times of peace and war.
Lynn, they know that. My son's recruiter sat in my living room and told us all, that it is very likely that he will go to a war zone in the next 2 years, and he did, he spent a year in Iraq. My experience with the military has been excellent.
Pepster - I agree, anyone considering joining should be fully aware. Every military ad and recruiter I've seen makes certain to show the work involved yet, Florina makes it sound like a bait and switch on the governments part. Thank you to your son!
My Marine son is a sniper and was stationed in Iraq for 8 months...it was almost impossible for him to connect with me on the satellite phone if he got the opportunity. We were able to Myspace each other every week. I could tell when the impact of what he was required to do started to affect him. I was able to rally prayer support for him at home based on these 'social' conversations.
That kind of duty is extremely stressful because of what they are asked to do. Myspace allowed my son to tell his dad that he was struggling at times and allowed me, in turn, to offer the fatherly encouragement that he needed...thank God for Myspace...
As the parent of a deployed sailor, I can say that Myspace has been a wonderful thing for my family. It has allowed my son to stay in touch with all of his family members (me, his dad, siblings, cousins) that also go onto Myspace. I think that from things that I have seen & heard from other parents, though, maybe their kids don't follow the OPSEC guidelines when they are posting blogs or pictures. It's not like those guidelines are ambiguous-they are very clear about what is allowed and what isn't. If everyone would follow the rules about what is acceptable to put out there in cyberspace where ANYONE can see it, this wouldn't even be an issue. I do think that no-one should be allowed to use "work" computers for personal use, though. That's just good old common sense.
How can anyone take away a person's rights, especially when they are serving the very country that gives us those rights? But on the other hand - loose lips sink ships they say. I don't know that there's really any good answer to this perplexing situation. Semper Fi!!
You're boss can tell you not to use the office computer for personal business while you are at work. He can even fire you if you violate the rules of the company. That includes exercising your free speech rights while you are at work.
It's no surprise that they are banning the use of social networking sites. The government is so paranoid that information will be leaked into the wrong hands, but yet they go and spout off just about every move they make to the press.
I realize that the rule applies mostly to service members on their duty hours. However, my question is this: aren't they always on duty? Always on call? Now, I worked for the government before, and am married into the army...so, I know that if you are on sites such as that during office hours, you can get in trouble. I've seen it happen to a couple of soldiers before, and am sure that there will be more to try and get away with it.
I do think it's a good thing to try and keep the marines/army, etc. off of certain sites during work hours. I don't think they have much time to mess around with things like that at work. If they are doing their job, there's no time to goof off.
Its not happening just now. I've been in the Marine Corps for 6 years and it has always been banned. I've never seen a single government computer that I could log onto that did not have myspace, facebook and any other social networking site banned. I can't even get on youtube. Or any type of email service for that matter. I can however look at news sites and what not including some stuff on ESPN. Other than that the systems are on lockdown. I've encounteres some computer systems that wouldn't even allow the use of thumbdrives. So the security has been in place for years within the Marine Corps. This ban just makes it official. I'm at work right now. I to like to keep up with current events and seeing how this in a roundabout way involves myself I took the time to comment.
Actually social networking sites have been banned on Department of Defense networks for a while. This article is posting old news. The DoD blocks all kinds of sites and activities from its networks. Facebook and MySpace are two of many blocked sites. This is a lot about nothing in my book. There is no need to access these sites from a government computer. As soon as the taxpayers here about a service member goofing off on Facebook, you will be up in arms complaining to Congress about it. So, just focus on important issues not outdated stories like this.
Exactly. I agree with you. And they have the right to black these sites on those computers just as any employer has the right to restrict access on their computers.
No, this is simple. I wonder how any of you would feel if your son or daughter was KIA because of something a fellow Soldier or Marine said on Facebook or Myspace. We all know the answer to that one.
I've been in the Marine Corps 6 years and these sites have always been banned from government computers. In Iraq (some places) and Kuwait they have places called CZEE. Its an internet place with no restrictions and you have to pay for it. They are not government computers so there is no vital information on them. Its as if you are on a personal computer at home. However on any government computer social networking sites to include youtube have always been banned. So this ban isn't new it only makes it official. For those of you who say I shouldn't be on there anyway I challenge you to come do what I do. I can't even get on any site that has any type of game on it. I can get on yahoo and msn but cannot check my mail. The Marine Corps has had these security measures in place for a longtime so this is OLD news. No youtube, yahoo mail, hotmail none of that for the 6 years I've served. I can get on ESPN though. You can't deny a man his sports! The public shouldn't be telling any military member what they can or cannot do in my opinion.
Your saying military members shouldn't be allowed to get on social networking sites anywhere because we don't read the news or have a life? That's a bit offensive. It amazes me the guts some people have. To actually open their mouths and say stuff they say about the military. The very people that give you the right to say what your saying. By saying negative things about the military you are basically contradicting yourself by using the right they give you.
Freedom is not FREE, it has a price tag: Responsibility; on or off duty time, miltary personnel should not be using those sites. National Safety and Security require and are worth of and beyond some personal sacrifice.
Did you forget that back in the Vietnam war,
1) GI utilized Vietnamese coolees (of whom many were Viet Cong or Viet Minh agents) to dig trenches for them...for US $1.00 a day...they will drink coffee with you in the day, and battle you during night-time with pin-point accuracy.
2) GI took pictures of their quarters, and make them developed and printed at local's photo-shops; they were happy to keep as souvenirs and or send some home...but the ennemies also got copies...
3) There were over 500,000 American troops in South Vietnam...and about the same number of prostitutes, most of whom agents of uncle Ho, to entertain and pass drug to the GI. The sex money will then be used for more destruction. The drug has knocked out over 3 entire American divisions, the drug money to fuel more drug...more attacks...which mean more American lives.
Now, forty years later, it's true that time has changed, but war remains ugly and merciless. When you stand for America, and pledge to protect and defend its values, a bit of such sacrifice is worthwile and necessary.
You can't tell the military they cannot use myspace and facebook off duty. How do I know whats going on in the middle east when I'm off duty in the United States? Just because your in the military doesn't mean you have intelligence that can be used by the enemy. In order to be able to obtain Intelligence in the military you are thoroughly investigated. When I joined they talked to people I hadn't known since I was a child. For example they talked to a neighbor I had when I was about 12 years old. As far as the Marine Corps goes we have our intelligence and OPSEC on lock. Worry about what you can do for "your" community rather than what the men and women of the armed forces are doing during their free time. I have Myspace,Facebook and Twitter. I'll be damned if the government tells me I cannot use it during my time off. I've made a ton of sacrifices including not seeing my family for long periods of time. Just because you sign a dotted line to defend freedom doesn't mean you have all yours taken away. While we give up alot we still deserve the right to communicate with friends and family. With all that being said I support the fact we cannot access myspace on government computers. Its a government computer and its for work. When I'm home and on my own computer I'll Myspace,Facebook and Twitter all I want.
#15 - 3) There were over 500,000 American troops in South Vietnam...and about the same number of prostitutes, most of whom agents of uncle Ho, to entertain and pass drug to the GI. The sex money will then be used for more destruction. The drug has knocked out over 3 entire American divisions, the drug money to fuel more drug...more attacks...which mean more American lives.
Well, I say its about time! I don't know what took DOD so long to figure out that these sorts of sites, actually the entire internet itself, is fertile ground for anyone seeking to acquire information, whether they are enemies or friendlies. It is a basic tenet of OPSEC that small pieces of a puzzle can be gathered from various sources and compiled to reveal significant, and in some cases, classified information. While I recognize this may upset many civilians, its the right thing to do if it helps keep our troops safe.
Again this rule has been in place in the Marine Corps for YEARS. This isn't new. The law is only new I guess to make it official. Again the Marine Corps has not allowed access to these sites on government computers for years.
Some points of clarification after reading some of these emails. I agree that miltary folks should have the freedom to do whatever they please on their personal time, given the limits of their liberties set by their Commanding Officers, but they certainly do not on military time. However, there are certain restrictions that apply 24/7.
As an example, Military personnel CAN NOT participate in any political events and I assume that to include expressing their opinions about politics through forums such as these. The Military works for all Americans, not a political party.
To Bob's earlier point that he does not have to follow orders blindly; Military members take an oath to follow all lawful orders given to them. Lawful being the key word. If they know for a fact, that it would be unlawful to obey an order, they have the right and duty to not obey it. Example. An order is given to blow up a 747 with the Presidential Seal on the side of it; I would argue that is not a lawful order, given it belongs to the citizens and government of a country you are sworn to protect. That is not a lawful order.
As an example, Military personnel CAN NOT participate in any political events and I assume that to include expressing their opinions about politics through forums such as these. The Military works for all Americans, not a political party
I should clarify that this applies to Active Duty Military Personnel, not retired or former military personnel.
I was actually ordered to remove a sticker from my car that said "Your for abortion, but against killing terrorists?" Obviously targeting a specific group of Americans. I understand what I can and cannot do as far as the military and politics go but being in the military I enjoy taking stabs at Liberals and such. I didn't complain about taking it off either I did as I was told. When I had the sticker on my car so many people gave me the thumbs up or honked at me on the road. made me feel good having my voice heard. I wish more people would pay attention to the opinions of the military. I don't push my political views on people but I like to be heard. I did not vote for Obama I will say.
That was exactly what I was referring to. I just don't want people that aren't in the military to think that "Yea all we do is do what our superiors tell us to do regardless of the consequences."
I think werewolf or whatever the name is is someone who doesn't belong in uniform. When you take the oath to support and defend the constitution, it does not come with an asterisk followed by *you also swear to defend whatever action congress and the president take against their own citizens to destroy their freedoms...all hail the president!*
The Constitution is the supreme law of the land, the president is not the supreme ruler. Congress has only 20 enumerated powers yet has trampled them to make america more like a utopian european socialist regime with a twinge of soft fascism. THey are telling us what to eat, drink, not to eat, not to drink etc etc ad infinitum ad nauseum. If you wish to support their goals of eroding the freedoms guaranteed in the constitution, that you took an oath to defend, then you sir are no patriot! The guy arguing against you is a patriot in the highest form.
As for the idiot going on about the gay comments, you are the typical single issue moron that is ruining the country hands down! THe article was not about gays in the military, the average infantrymen do not make the policies. If you are truly offended that gays cannot serve in the military, take it up with the folks who make the laws...namely the congress and president that wolfy will defend to the end to keep others from being free regardless because he is what I like to call a government nazi.
Surely there will come a time when the people say we have had enough. They will march on washington and perhaps they will be demanding those in power step down. The people in uniform who stand beside their fellow citizens, some of them relatives and friends, and help take america back from the crooked pols in office are the REAL patriots and the REAL heroes.....not the Yes Men like Wolfy.
Anyplace that I have worked at limits computer website access while at work. Business is business. I don't think it's an issue of amemnment rights, it's a business computer for business work. It's their network, they have the right to limit access.
Only just now? My computer based business friends banned YouTube and MySpace years ago not only as security hazards but just company time wasters in general.
Sure - this is a no-brainer. Why was it allowed in the first place?
No wonder "tallnblonde" wanted to know about the Taliban.
Do internet companies create the ill, then find the cure?
Free enterprise? Call the Federal Trade Commission and ask them to explain the concept of free enterprise.
Not many in the US are free. Some are. Most are not or not as free as they'd like or think they are. Most speak from a sense of idealism NOT realism.
They don't want Marines to learn things like this
http://benjaminhfreedman.blogspot.com/
Maybe Congress will learn that they should ban them also, and flush Twitter. They also have better things to do....are you listening Claire McCaskill?
RECALL THEM ALL!!!
I'm so glad the media is up on current events. This happened only about 3 years ago and it's not just the Corps internet. It's both the Navy and the Corps internet that was adjusted to block pretty much anything except official websites. Personally I didn't mind so much. My troops had better things to do than surf the web.
Fair enough...work hours shouldn't be spent on personal social networking.
Do people actually start work that late? 9:00am Wow.
Semper Fi Marines!! Social networks are for losers anyway
Amen, fxe84!! Couldn't have said it better, myself!! The Corps continues to KEEP US SAFE!!!! Thank God!!!!
As a former Marine I will say there is no draft you joined and are paid by the taxpayers. If you do not like what we are doing then get the hell out. This is not a game it is a reality that few will understand but if you wear the uniform be the man.
I didn't think you could simply quit the military.
You can't and our military people pay taxes, too.
Military persons don't have time for Myspace and Facebook anyway.
Its about time!
all of the military should be banned from using these network sites and for personal use also. I have noted military people on this site. I do not think they shoudl exress their opinions. They should only take orders. For all teh reasons mentioned above. But more importantly for security reasons.
I agree with El Presidente. My husband is in the military and I have seen pictures from Iraq posted on ppl's Myspace. Not safe for security purposes.
I am NOT ALLOWED to post my opinion? I say this due to your "all of the military should be banned from using these network sites and for personal use also" comment. I don't care who you are whether you are the President, General of the Army, Secretary of Defense, or whoever else but if I'm on my own time I can do whatever I damn well please. If you think otherwise, please, pleeease, come see me. But on duty yea, I can agree with that.
NOTE: If i misread your comment then disregard the rant >.>
They shouldn't be allowed to use it after what they did to that boy.

"Protect and defend the PEOPLE and the CONSTITUTION of America."
But don't protect the gays or let the gays serve alongside their fellow Americans in battle.
If you are a citizen of the United States then that applies to gays as well. While I don't discriminate against gays its their choice to be gay but what matters is that the Constitution is there to protect EVERY citizen whether your gay or not.
yup just what i thought....
its their choice to be gay
Can you back up this claim?
Also, if being gay means being hated, beaten, possibly killed or kicked out of the military, why would anyone choose to be gay?
what matters is that the Constitution is there to protect EVERY citizen whether your gay or not.
But apparently that doesn't apply to the military.
You didn't answer the questions.
Can you back up this claim?
Do you understand the question that your asking me?
Yeah, I understand the question. Do you?
Do I choose to be straight?
Answer the question, or are you scared?
Your asking me for proof of that you choose to be gay and I see what your saying and honestly I can't answer that.
Because you know you're wrong. Don't say or bring up stuff that you can't back up.
Nature/God/Aliens (whatever you believe in) work in mysterious ways.
"Man invented God, not the other way around." - the fantastic Carl Reiner, a Jewish-Atheist and a great actor.
So I'll post the questions again,
Can you back up this claim?
Do you choose to be straight? Or are you only straight because the bible says you have to be?
If being gay means being hated, beaten, possibly killed or kicked out of the military, why would anyone choose to be gay?
How do you know I'm gay? Is it because I support gay rights?
Ok....we're done here. Guess I'm too scared to post anymore ~shivers~
Sidenote: I don't believe in God but I think that there is something there but not sure what it is. That tidbit was just for you there Auteur. And just to make you smile Auteur...Go gay people and their SUPPORTERS, you guys rock.
Oh wow, the big bad military guy can answer a few simple questions.
And just to make you smile Auteur...Go gay people and their SUPPORTERS, you guys rock.
That doesn't make me smile because I know you're lying. And isn't it dishonorable for soldiers to lie? Or is it only okay to force gays to lie?
you really I'm the military!! doubt it,I would have someone like you covering my back doubt anyone else would ether you couldn't be trusted!
@ Bob-447665,
since you asked, I'm a girl.
LMAO
hehe; there goes any rank or security clearance for you Bob.
Thanx Bro
Damn right. And, let's take away their right to vote, while we're at it (voting is another form of expression).
I sure hope you were being sarcastic.
momus2009 was in the military you need to learn how to read, but nice catch but i was hoping bob caught that but he didn't its the UCMJ article 92 read it and all the rest of you that keep using the constitution like its toilet paper should read both of them!
Florina,
Have you lost your friggin' mind? If it was not for those who have fought for and defended the constitution it wouldn't exist. How much would the 1st Amendment mean if we had been destroyed by another country? Many have attacked us...
What nut farm did you just escape from?
While they're getting a kick by saying "Damn look what happened to this tank" the enemy looks at these pictures as well saying "Hey, shoot a RPG here and it works better." But then again you could argue by saying you could prolly find that information somewhere else like wiki.
florina,
Nobody in the military wantsto have to go somewhere they may be killed.
Don't you have some ACLU crap to proof read, florina? I'm sure they would appreciate it more than we would.
I hear you! Lynn, and thanks, I will tell my son.
It's really about workplace rules.
"Your"
Just because they fight for their/our country, doesn't mean they get a free pass.
Don't Forget to Ban all the 1-800 porn 2, Never understood auditory stimulation.
They ought to banned facebook and my space everywhere, maybe people would read the news, learn more and get out in the real world and have a life
Your saying military members shouldn't be allowed to get on social networking sites anywhere because we don't read the news or have a life? That's a bit offensive. It amazes me the guts some people have. To actually open their mouths and say stuff they say about the military. The very people that give you the right to say what your saying. By saying negative things about the military you are basically contradicting yourself by using the right they give you.
i was referring to Everyone not the miltary per say
USMCAnthony|: Aw, Bull@!$%#!
And bullcrap to you too florina.
Oh, Finally! Thanks God!
Say what???
and cnn reports that the army recently ordered all base commanders to provide access to facebook. good for the army and bad for the marines?
No; safety for the Marines and loose lips for the Army .....?
Duh!
Ohh by the way doesn't President Obama twitter?
Yes. Yes he does Twitter. Lead by example my ass.
Semper Fi!
Yeah, I heard/saw that Camp Lejeune had a standing order against that.
Please know there are a lot of us out here that hear your voice. God Bless you Marine. Semper Fi!
Vietnam Vet/CWO-3 Retired
@ The Few The Proud-
That was exactly what I was referring to. I just don't want people that aren't in the military to think that "Yea all we do is do what our superiors tell us to do regardless of the consequences."
What's a grunt gonna do when (s)he can't troll for tail on MySpace?
LMAO!!!
Myspace is good for that purpose.
Amen brother. Total agreement.
Ahhh...Now if only we can get other people to understand this. We might be on our way to a greater nation.
Anyplace that I have worked at limits computer website access while at work. Business is business. I don't think it's an issue of amemnment rights, it's a business computer for business work. It's their network, they have the right to limit access.
